Region Descriptors to Extricate Renal Calculi by Discerning Artifacts from Ultra Sound Images
نویسنده
چکیده
The study presents a new technique to identify kidney stones and differentiate it from artifacts from an ultra sound scanned image. Image analysis plays vital role in medical diagnosis. Analysing texture is a major source of discrimination in image analysis. There are situations when artifacts are mistaken for kidney stones in Medical scan using Ultra sound technique. We are proposing a new approach wherein the kidney stones are differentiated from artifacts using various shape descriptive parameters. Various descriptors like Compactness, Dispersion, Smoothness and third moment are used in our method to differentiate artifacts and stones from ultrasound images. Basic regional descriptor characterizes the geometric properties of ROI (Region of Interest) whereas Invariant moment concentrates on the density of ROI. Initially the US image is polished using a Combinational approach of noise removal and this image is taken as input for our further analysis. Pre-processing is done to minimize the occurrence of artifacts. The potential calculi are extracted and the validity is tested using the above specified parameters. Test results show convincing difference in values between Calculi and Artifact. The suggested method efficiently helped in identifying Renal Calculi from Ultra sound Images.

Attenuation correction in myocardial perfusion SPECT using sequential transmission - emission scanning with 99mTc [Persain]
Introduction: Nowadays, Imaging of the myocardial perfusion (MPI) using the single photon emission tomography (SPET) in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, especially myocardial ischemia, is of great importance. In contrast to the coronary artery angiography, MPI is non-invasive, less expensive and more physiological. Unfortunately, this image is affected by the some artifacts. Thes...
متن کاملPrimary Tubulovillous Adenocarcinoma of Renal Pelvis: An Unusual Genitourinary Tumor
Prolonged inflammation or irritation due to renal calculi can induce glandular metaplasia of the urothelium and even malignant neoplasm. Primary adenocarcinoma in pelvicalyceal system is a rare tumor in such patients. Here, a case of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) positive primary tubulovillous adenocarcinoma in pelvicalyceal system is reported. A 57-year-old male with right abdominal pain and ...

متن کاملLesion Segmentation in Breast Sonography
Sonography is gainingpopularity as an adjunct screening technique for assessing abnormalities in the breast. This is particularly true in cases where the subject has dense breast tissue, wherein widespread techniques like Digital Mammography (DM) fail to produce reliable outcomes. This article proposes anovel and fully automaticmethodology for breast lesion segmentation in B-mode Ultra-Sound (U...
متن کاملRed Eye Detection through Bag-of-Keypoints Classification
Red eye artifacts are a well-known problem in digital photography. Small compact devices and point-and-click usage, typical of non-professional photography, greatly increase the likelihood for red eyes to appear in acquired images. Automatic detection of red eyes is a very challenging task, due to the variability of the phenomenon and the general difficulty in reliably discerning the shape of e...
